TO EACH THEIR EMPIRE — “NOT QUITE BAROQUE”
The monumental debut album “Not Quite Baroque” by classical composer Jēkabs Tutiņš, highly praised by the cultural elite, stands as an emotionally charged imperial manifesto — a place where the grandeur of the Baroque era meets the modern individual’s inner sovereignty. The album will be performed publicly for the very first time at Dzintari Concert Hall, following its ceremonial unveiling at the Benjamiņi House on August 28th, 2025.
The album’s sonic architecture will be performed by an expanded chamber orchestra bringing together top-level professional Latvian musicians, including representatives of leading orchestras. At the conductor’s podium will be Atvars Lakstīgala.
The concert will present the complete album cycle accompanied by the composer’s personal reflections on each work — from prophecy to imperial triumph. The evening’s program will also feature the piece “A Moment of Holiness” — the ceremonial music with which "Not Quite Baroque" was solemnly consecrated on its inauguration day.
“This music does not ask to be heard — it enters the room with authority. It gives strength and courage. It leads the listener toward achievement, toward their own empire.” — Jēkabs Tutiņš
Maestro Raimonds Pauls on Not Quite Baroque: "Pure instrumental music — nothing out of place. Every note is written with precision, and the result is flawless."
